| Description | |||
| The
polarimeter analyzes the polarization state of light. Application software
shows degree-of-polarization, azimuth angle, ellipticity, normalized
Stokes vector and Jones vector. Device’s coordinate frame is shown in
the instruction file. Input aperture has a diameter of 3mm. Due to
sensitivity it is recommended that the polarimeter be mounted firmly and
light under analysis must fall straight in to the device. If it is
possible, speckles in light should be avoided. If the device is included
in an ellipsometer, it calculates surface’s complex refractive index.
First, the detector is placed over a master sample and the button is pressed and held for three seconds. The data is then stored or "taught" to the device. Second, immediately after the data has been stored, depress the same button again in short presses to set the tolerance. Each press is equivalent to 0.2% tolerance. The maximum tolerance is 3.2%. There are 20 seconds to "calibrate" the detector. Example: To set the detector to sense a a certain polarization state from a master with a 1.2% tolerance. The detector is placed on the sheet and the button is pressed for 3 seconds and released, then the button is pressed in short increments 6 times. (6 x 0.2 = 1.2) |
